Counselling Fees, Direct Billing, & FAQs

We offer a range of rates depending on the type of session and extended benefits.

See our full list of rates, direct billing info, trusted partnerships, and general FAQs below. If you’d like to discuss options for your personal situation, you can also email or call our clinic directly. We are here to help.

What are your counselling fees?

Our session fees are aligned with the recommended fee scale provided by the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. Payment of session fees are due at the time of service and we happily accept Credit Card or Interac E-transfer. We do not accept cash at this time. All new clients are required to place a valid credit card on file to secure your booking, though may opt to pay by E-transfer by emailing our billing coordinator before the session. Our base rates are as follows, with minor variability depending on the counsellor, and all session fees prior to December 20th, 2024 are subject to GST:

  • Individual Session (50 min in-person or online) - $155

  • Extended Session (75 min in-person or online) - $215

  • Couples/Family Session (50 min in-person or online) - $175

  • Couples/Family Extended Session (75 min in-person or online) - $235

  • ICBC Session (50 min in-person or online) - $11 user fee*

  • CVAP Session (50 min in-person or online) - $20 user fee*

*Please be advised that some funding organizations only cover a portion of the counselling session fee; the remainder of our fee will be charged to the client privately after each session as a user fee.

Where there is financial hardship, select counsellors from our team offer sliding scale/reduced fees for sessions as availability allows. Please inquire with our client care coordinator team if we currently have reduced fee spots available.

From December 20th, 2024 onward the Canada Revenue Agency has confirmed that RCCs are no longer required to charge GST in BC for counselling services. All counselling session pricing with RCCs from December 20th, 2024 forward will now be tax exempt. Other services such as documentation requests, supervision/consultation, and court appearances as required are still be subject to GST.

Can I use my extended health benefits? Do you direct bill?

Yes! Many extended health care providers will pay a portion or all of your visit fee. Every plan is different, and if you are counting on your extended benefits covering the cost of your counselling, we recommend checking with your health care provider to confirm your coverage to see a Registered Clinical Counsellor before beginning therapy. If your plan allows RCCs to direct bill (not all do!), we will happily set this up for you.

Vitality Collective requires all clients to privately pay for their sessions at the time service is rendered, excluding the organizations we have a direct billing partnership with. Clients will be issued a detailed receipt of their appointment which can be seamlessly submitted to your health plan for quick reimbursement. If your extended health plan does not cover the full session fee, any remaining balance will be billed to you personally.

What if I don’t have extended coverage to cover a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC), or Registered Social Worker (RSW)?

Some insurance providers cover counselling services but do not acknowledge the above titles as services to be covered. We suggest speaking to your Employer or Human Resources department to request this change. Many people don’t realize that their extended health coverage can be altered easily, usually at no extra cost to your employer.

For those who are self-employed or business owners, you can set up a Private Health Services Plan or Health Spending Account that will cover your counselling sessions.

Please note that the Medical Services Plan (MSP) in BC does not currently cover fees for counselling and psychotherapy.

Our office can provide direct billing to the following organizations and this is what we need from you:

Not all of our therapists are registered providers with the above organizations. Please indicate on your inquiry form if you intend to have one of these organizations support your counselling and we will verify which of our counsellors is available to meet with you.

Happily Supporting Clients From Trusted Organizations

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

You may easily cancel or reschedule your appointment by changing your booking through your client profile in the JaneApp, emailing your therapist, or emailing our office and providing at least 48 hours notice.

If a session is cancelled for any reason less than 48 hours prior to the appointment or in the event of non-attendance, the full session fee applies. This is because it leaves a significant hole in the therapist’s day along with prep time that could have been used for another client. Alongside providing the best help for our clients, we also want to provide the best experience for our team members - which includes a consistent schedule. Win-win!
